So, I had this idea. I would create a blog to explore the world of festivals, starting with the Roman Catholic calendar. I knew that there were a whole bunch of feast days, especially for saints. Little did I realize that every single day of the year has a Saint assigned to it.
So. It looks like I'll be covering the Solemnities, which are the most important of the saints days, and all your traditional 'holidays.' And whatever else I find along the way. Whenever possible, I'll be trying to have my posts come up on the day of the Festival in question, but.. I've looked ahead at parts of this calendar and there are going to be some tricky weeks.
I'll also put a little summary of what other saints are honored in that particular week, since, you know, there is a saint for every day.
And in the future, I am planning on covering more religions in more years. I know that even with the Catholics love of festivals, there are some religions with many, many more. So it should be fun.
